Year 1 Lent Challenge

25th April 2019

Bishop Stephen set us a Lent Challenge linked to the song 'When I'm 64'.

This is what Year 1 did in response.....

We invited the Grandparents to join us for an afternoon of singing and sharing. The children learnt 'Daisy, Daisy', 'This Old Man', 'Polly put the kettle on', 'She’ll be coming round the mountain' and 'Frere Jacques' to sing with the Grandparents.

The Grandparents brought along some objects and photos from their childhoods to share with the children.

The children had baked shortbread to serve and enjoy with them.

We had more than 50 Grandparents turn up for the event and some amazing feedback about how much they had enjoyed it.

“I wanted to say a big thank you to the Year 1 team, and yourself, for the lovely afternoon the grandparents and children enjoyed today.

Zeke and my parents came home and enjoyed telling us all about it – “the children’s singing was beautiful,…the biscuits were made by the children and  were delicious it was so nice to be served tea to enjoy with a biscuit.the children were all so well behaved” etc.

It was so lovely for them all to share this experience.

Thank you”

“We’re just home. A very happy occasion. What is J’s class teacher called? Thought I would drop her a note to thank her - they must have put in a lot of work! J was very excited.”
